MTV BASE, MTV AND BET AFRICA KEEPS VIEWERS ON LOCKDOWN WITH INSPIRING ENTERTAINMENT

 

JOHANNESBURG 6 APRIL ViacomCBS Networks Africa is using its powerful platforms to educate audiences on the importance of social distancing as the world grapples with the devastating effects of COVID-19. The network’s entertainment and youth brands led by MTV base, MTV and BET Africa launched the #AloneTogether campaign which will be informing, educating and entertaining millions of audiences to drive unity through entertainment. A focus on mental health is a vital part of the effort, underscoring that social distancing does not mean social isolation.

ViacomCBS Networks Africa has produced specially curated content for the #AloneTogether campaign which will be shared collectively on air and across the network’s social media platforms, speaking to the crisis in their distinct channel brand voices. MTV Base (DStv channel 322) is leading the charge with an array of content that promises to make viewers time at home an inspiring one. The channel has launched social properties like #MTVunpluggedAtHome with international music sensation Wyclef Jean and is set to bring together the world’s top artists for weekly in home performances.

#MTVBasement is an online party hosting music’s superstar DJs during lockdown for live sets in real time giving audiences the chance to enjoy their favourite DJs across the brands’ social platforms. The first #MTVBasement took place on Saturday, the 28th March featuring popular DJs from DBN GOGO, DJ TIRA and SPEEDSTA. The online party reached viewers across the continent on the MTV Base digital platforms which reach a community of 2 million fans across the continent. MTVBasement hosted more DJs from Uncle Party time, Semi-Tee (Uber Guy) and DJ Tira. In addition MTV Base West hosted a series of #MTVBaseDJTakeoverLive sessions on Instagram from Thursday to Saturday featuring Naija’s best DJ Babus, DJ Sose, DJ Soupal and many more.

Content is remotely edited to air across linear TV and the channel brands digital platforms. MTV Africa viewers can additionally look forward to On Air features like Quarantine and Chill With MTV and #BeAtHome DJ sets which will stream exclusively on the channel’s Facebook page featuring the country’s top DJ’s.

BET Africa (DStvChannel 129) is set to keep viewers entertained while on lockdown with the channel’s social  property #BETCultureVibe which includes workout session with @THE_NJIVINATOR on the brands IG page. The channel will also be bringing the soul over Easter weekend with their Gospel Cruise hosted by Rorisang Thandekiso The channel will also stream bespoke #BeAtHome worship sessions on their Facebook page featuring acclaimed gospel star, Dr Tumi.
