Hybrid Business Talks, Art Exhibitions, an African Food & Craft Market, and a Music Festival are among the four-day series of activities and activations scheduled for Africa Day Celebration 2022. It's all about promoting African culture through music, art, and fashion, with the purpose of fostering an environment where young people from all over the continent may exchange ideas and do business.
The Gauteng Premier, David Makhura, hosted a Press Conference on 25 May to announce the activities for the celebrations. There will be art exhibitions from 26 to 28 of May, with a collaborative approach with a few artists from various African countries. The goal is to assist them in creating content that may be consumed throughout the continent as well as locally. On 26 and 27 May, there will be Hybrid Business Talks where business and thought leaders across various fields will share their experiences with and impart knowledge on attendees. MTV Base and The Gauteng Film Commission will also hold movie screenings, that will include two local movies and documentaries to support local content producers. On 28 May, we will see African stars take the stage at this Pan-African Celebration.
"We are happy for the opportunity to leverage our partnership relationships to commemorate this year’s Africa Day through a series of on-the-ground activities after two years of virtual concerts," Monde Twala, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Paramount Africa, said. “We're looking forward to an exciting music festival that would see amazing talents across the continent grace the stage as we bring people together to celebrate the uniqueness and culture of our continent."
