On 4th March, DStv in association with Nickelodeon, launched an additional children’s entertainment channel, Nickelodeon Portuguese. Nickelodeon is already known as the channel that distributes the largest slate of children’s content and the new addition Nickelodeon Portuguese, now available on the DStv channel number 573, further increases the leading family brand’s distribution.
“Extending our brand offering in a more engaging and accessible way across Africa is key to our growth strategy,” says Alex Okosi, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Viacom International Media Networks Africa. “Our much-loved Nickelodeon brand in Portuguese will enable a deeper connection for kids and families in Angola.”
The channel will consist of programs like the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, which is a tribute to the most popular kids and teens shows and stars and gives viewers the power to choose their favourites; Henry Danger, a superhero willing to face any danger or enemy on his quest to fight crime, and The Thundermans, a series that portrays a not-so average family trying to keep their super-human quirks under wraps.
The above is just a brief glimpse at the available content on this channel, which will cater to a wide age group with a creative lineup that will not only entertain but also educate the viewers with, happy moments, great laughter and fun experiences.
According to Eduardo Continentino, General Manager of MultiChoice Angola, “this channel is a direct representation of how DStv is committed to investing in content. By customising an offer to better resonate and align with the needs of Angolan children and youth audiences, DStv shows that customers are indeed at the heart of all decisions made. We believe that this channel will add value to our existing channels grid.”
The launch of this channel on the DStv platform, on DStv Bué and DStv Mega, comes to reinforce DStv’s commitment with the subscribers in Angola.
